Morris College Receives $25,000 from First Citizens Bank

Morris College was recently presented with a contribution from First Citizens Bank. Mr. Robert B. Smith, senior vice president and South Carolina market executive for First Citizens Bank here in Sumter, presented college president Dr. Leroy Staggers with the gift on October 30. The unrestricted funds totaling $25,000, will be used to support institutional needs.

“With this gift, we’re proud to make a difference in the communities where we work and live by supporting Morris College to assist with its response to COVID-19. It’s just one of the ways First Citizens strives to fulfill our Forever First brand promise to be the best bank possible. We hope this donation will help keep students and faculty safe during these unusual times so they can remain focused on their educational mission”, said Mr. Smith.

"The college is extremely grateful to Bob Smith and First Citizens Bank for this generous gift. This will help us tremendously as we continue the process of recovering from the impact of the pandemic", said President Staggers.

Founded in 1898 and headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., First Citizens Bank is one of the largest family-controlled banks in the U.S., with offices in 19 states. The bank currently has three locations in Sumter.
