Greene Leads the Baptist Convention in Raising $375,971 for Annual Fall Harvest Rally
Dr. Donald E. Greene, Jr., president of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina and pastor of Andrew Chapel Baptist Church (Orangeburg, SC), has, to date, led the Convention in raising $375,971 for the institution’s annual Fall Harvest Rally.
Founded in 1877, it was not until 1908 that the Convention was able to acquire a site in Sumter, South Carolina for the purpose of establishing Morris College. As the 17th president of the Convention, Dr. Greene is an avid and passionate fundraiser for the institution. He is also an active participant in community affairs and is well known throughout denominational and ecumenical circles. His dedication to “Equipping the Church for the Future” is seen through a variety of outreach initiatives that involves supplying inmates with care packets, distributing boxes of fresh produce throughout the state, delivering sleeping bags to the homeless, and providing aid to children in Africa.
Skilled at planning, organizing, and hosting special events, he is the recipient of the 2011 Unsung Hero Award from the 25th Annual Church and Community Human Relations Awards Banquet. In 2006, the Honorable James E. Clyburn recognized Dr. Greene for a decade of pastoral excellence and exemplary service to the community.
Dr. Greene is married to the former Candice McNeil and they have two children, Aaron Jacob and the late Caleb Andrew.
