Mrs. Smalls is a native of North Charleston, South Carolina and is a graduate of North Charleston High School. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Winthrop University. She earned her master's degree in Health, Exercise, Sport Science at The Citadel Military College in Charleston, SC.
Mrs. Smalls served as Director of the Student Health and Wellness Center at Morris College. As Director of the Student Health and Wellness Center, she developed and implemented health, fitness, and wellness programs across the campus. The Wellness Center served as a vibrant campus hub where students learned the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices.
Following her service to Morris College, Mrs. Smalls served as Health Careers Program Coordinator for Pee Dee Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC) and McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC. As Program Coordinator, she built partnerships with several healthcare facilities to provide student internship, observation and employment opportunities. She developed community service projects and outreach events. She recruited undergraduate and high school students within the twelve county, Pee Dee region, through partnerships with colleges, universities and high schools.
In her new role as Director of Career Services, Mrs. Smalls looks forward to empowering students on their journey toward impactful careers. She hopes to promote lifelong professional growth by providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities that foster self-discovery and skill development.
