Committed to The Pride: From Miss UAPB to Faculty to Mrs. Arkansas 2025

Dr. Tamara P. Glover, Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), has been crowned Mrs. Arkansas 2025 under the prestigious USA World Pageant Organization, a renowned platform for women’s empowerment and leadership. In November 2025, she will carry the pride of her alma mater, her students, and the State of Arkansas onto the national stage, with the opportunity to advance and represent the United States internationally.

Recent UAPB Graduate Receives Prestigious Guy Levis Grant Award

Perry L. Williams, a recent graduate and former student leader at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), has been named the 112th recipient of the prestigious Guy Levis Grant Award. According to the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s website, the award, named after one of the Fraternity’s 10 founders, is bestowed upon undergraduate members who exhibit extra meritorious contributions to the Fraternity’s advancement.  A proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, Williams received the award during the Fraternity’s 87th Grand Chapter Meeting.

UAPB Department of Biology Students and Alum Receive Internships and Grad School Opportunities

Four current and one former student in the Department of Biology at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) have earned competitive internship opportunities and admission into a graduate program.
According to Dr. Sederick Charles Rice, Associate Professor of Biology at UAPB, Tyrese Singleton, Alayasia Stewart, Kohl Thomas, and Mya Tolbert will participate in research-oriented internships this summer in Missouri, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee. He also announced that Henessae Shavers, a December 2023 UAPB graduate, has been accepted into the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Pathobiology & Molecular Medicine Graduate Program.

A New Era for UAPB Theater: From The Color Purple to Memphis the Musical

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Theater Department is undergoing a remarkable revitalization, a testament to the collective efforts of faculty, students, and the community. As UAPB ends the 2025 spring semester, Taijee Bunch, in his first year as UAPB’s theater instructor, has directed the production of The Color Purple, The Musical in April and is currently working as the director for Memphis the Musical, set to grace the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at The Arts & Science Center, 701 S. Main St. in Pine Bluff, from July 17-20, 2025.
