The Morris College Veterans Resource Center was established in 2018 to serve as the primary campus resource for active-duty military personnel, reservists, retirees, veterans, and their dependents as they pursue their educational goals.

The Veterans Resource Center assists military-connected individuals and their dependents with issues related to enrolling in college, obtaining financial assistance, and securing supportive services while pursuing their college education. Personnel also assist qualified individuals with the process of applying for and obtaining educational benefits administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Morris College appreciates the service and sacrifice of America’s military members, veterans, and their families and is committed to helping them obtain a high-quality college education that supports their future personal and professional success.

GI BILL AND VETERANS AFFAIRS (VA)
EDUCATION BENEFITS

Eligible veterans, service members, reservists, survivors, and dependents attending Morris College may be able to use education benefits administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The specific program and amount of assistance available are determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs based on an individual’s eligibility, military service, and other applicable requirements.

CHAPTER 30: MONTGOMERY GI BILL ACTIVE DUTY

The Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD), Chapter 30, provides education benefits for eligible veterans and service members who meet the applicable active-duty service requirements. Benefits may be used to help cover education and training expenses while attending an approved program.

CHAPTER 31: VETERAN READINESS AND EMPLOYMENT

Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E), Chapter 31, provides services to eligible veterans and service members with service-connected disabilities to assist them in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining suitable employment. Depending upon an individual’s approved rehabilitation plan, services may include education and training.

CHAPTER 33:  POST-9/11 GI BILL

The Post-9/11 GI Bill, Chapter 33, provides education benefits to qualifying veterans and service members with eligible active-duty service after September 10, 2001. Depending upon eligibility, benefits may assist with tuition and fees, housing, books, supplies, and other approved educational expenses.

Purple Heart recipients may also qualify for Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits under VA eligibility requirements, further connecting Morris College’s Purple Heart College recognition with the educational resources available to eligible veterans.

CHAPTER 35: SURVIVORS’ AND DEPENDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE

The Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (DEA), Chapter 35, provides education and training assistance to qualifying spouses and children of certain veterans and service members.

The program recognizes that military service and sacrifice affect families as well as those who wear the uniform and can provide qualifying dependents with assistance in pursuing approved education and training.

CHAPTER 1606: MONTGOMERY GI BILL SELECTED RESERVE

The Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR), Chapter 1606, provides education and training benefits for qualifying members of the Selected Reserve. The program can serve eligible members of the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard who meet VA and military eligibility requirements.

Together, these VA education programs provide different pathways through which eligible members of the Morris College military community may receive assistance with their education. Students should work with the appropriate Morris College official and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to determine their individual eligibility and the benefit that applies to them.
