UAPB STEM Summer Institute Concludes with Transformative Success

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) proudly announces the successful completion of its 2025 STEM Summer Institute, a five-week program designed to inspire, challenge, and equip the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This year’s institute brought together 31 scholars from across Arkansas and several out-of-state locations.

UAPB Hosts Alice L. Walton School of Medicine Information Sessions

Pine Bluff, AR — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will host the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) Admission representatives on Monday afternoon and evening. Sept. 8, 2025. AWSOM’s first informational visit to the UAPB campus offers an opportunity to highlight partnership pathways for UAPB students and alumni interested in medicine, health education, and careers, encouraging them to learn more about AWSOM and potentially apply. According to the AWSOM website, “Alice L. Walton School of Medicine is reshaping medical education with a four-year MD program enhanced with a whole-person approach.”

UAPB awarded $511,480 to support first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities through TRIO Student Support Services

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) a federal TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant totaling $511,480 for the 2025- 2026 academic year to improve college retention and graduation rates among low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities. This award marks the continuation of TRIO SSS services on the UAPB campus. Since 1985, the program has served hundreds of students, helping them stay in school, earn degrees, and build meaningful careers.

Countdown to UAPB Homecoming 2025: What You Need to Know

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Homecoming celebration is set for October 5-11, 2025. The annual week-long experience brings together alumni, students, faculty, staff, fans from across the country, and surrounding communities. UAPB’s Homecoming continues a rich HBCU tradition with lively activities, including a parade that will feature floats and marching bands, along with concerts, Greek step shows, reunions, open houses, a golf tournament, outdoor festivals, and an exciting football game against Westgate Christian College. And we are honored to welcome Alumnus Perry Stuckey as this year’s Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal.

UAPB Librarian Presents AI Smart Tools at National STEM Librarians Conference

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Librarian Shenise McGhee was a featured panelist who presented on cutting-edge AI-Powered Smart Tools at the 2025 STEM Librarians South Conference hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington. This annual conference, held both virtually and in-person, brings together STEM librarians from across the United States and beyond to exchange ideas, strategies, and innovations in areas such as library instruction, reference services, collection development, and outreach.

Join Drs. Finney and Davis for A Special Talk On the Legacy of UAPB Professor Joseph Carter Corbin

Join Dr. Gladys Turney Finney in conversation with Dr. Kimberley Davis, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) School of Education, Dean and Professor, to commemorate Professor Joseph Carter Corbin and the opening of Branch Normal College (now UAPB) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, over 150 years ago. Branch Normal College opened the doors to what would become a major center of learning for African Americans in Arkansas, starting with just seven students. On Wednesday, September 03, 2025, from  12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, the talk highlights Corbin’s groundbreaking contributions to education as part of the Legacies & Lunch series, a free program of CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies about Arkansas-related topics.
