North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has announced the passing of Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Edward B. Fort, who died Aug. 9, 2026, at age 94 after a distinguished career in higher education and 17 years of leadership as N.C. A&T’s eighth chancellor.

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Chancellor Anthony Graham, Ph.D., joins the N.C. A&T family and the broader HBCU community in remembering Dr. Fort’s extraordinary legacy and reflecting on the profound personal and professional impact of a mentor, colleague, and friend.
