UAPB Honors Alumnus Success with Smokie Norful’s 2025 Spring Commencement Address This Saturday

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) announced that Alumnus Smokie Norful—renowned pastor, Grammy Award-winning recording artist, and educator will deliver the keynote address at the 2025 Spring Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2025. The procession will begin at 9:45 a.m., and the ceremony will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The whole ceremony will be live-streamed on the UAPB-TV YouTube channel.

NFL Legend Terron Armstead and Former UAPB Golden Lion Announces Retirement After 12 Years

Pine Bluff, AR- Former University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff offensive tackle Terron Armstead, a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle, has announced his retirement from the NFL, concluding a distinguished 12-year career. Drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Armstead played nine seasons with the Saints before joining the Miami Dolphins in 2022. During his time with the Dolphins, he earned Pro Bowl selections in both 2022 and 2023.

UAPB Welcomes Dr. Trina Fletcher as Associate Dean and Professor to the School of Arts and Sciences

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) welcomes Dr. Trina L. Fletcher (’08) as the Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences and an Associate Professor of Engineering and Industrial Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering. She returned to UAPB after receiving tenure and promotion at the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University (FIU), a Carnegie Research 1 institution.

UAPB Alumna Trailblazer for Women in the Armed Forces

Brigadier General Tomika M. Seaberry, a 1997 UAPB ROTC Program graduate, has a new assignment, according to an announcement from the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. Seaberry has been assigned a significant role as Military Deputy Office of the Chief Army Reserve G-3/5/7 (Individual Mobilized Augmentee), Office of the Chief Army Reserve, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. She most recently served as Commander (Troop Program Unit), 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Joint Base Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
