TRIO Programs

The Upward Bound program at Morris College is a cornerstone of the institution’s commitment to community outreach. It is designed to bridge the gap between secondary and post-secondary education for local high school students.

  • Academic Year Component: Students receive bi-monthly Saturday instruction in core subjects like Mathematics, Laboratory Science, and Foreign Languages, ensuring they are academically competitive before they even step onto a college campus.
  • The Summer Residential Experience: For six weeks, participants reside on the Morris College campus, immersing themselves in the collegiate environment. This “test drive” of college life includes intensive coursework and counseling, demystifying the higher education experience.
  • The Bridge Component: High school graduates who have successfully completed Upward Bound can participate in a specialized “Bridge” program. This allows them to earn up to seven college credits during the summer, providing a head start that ensures they enter their freshman year with momentum and confidence.
