Throughout its history, Morris College has transformed talented students into consequential professionals, engaged citizens, and community leaders. We have contributed thought leadership in countless fields of exploration, and served as home for all those who believe that knowledge is the truest pathway to achieve equity and excellence. In every phase of our evolution, we have proven the essential imperative of our mission.

The appointment of a new leader provides an opportunity for further innovation, to think about our programs in new ways, and to engage our stakeholders with fresh perspectives. As President Said Sewell leads the development of our future-focused agenda, he will engage in a comprehensive listening tour to amplify the "essence of Morris College," and highlight the unique attributes that make it an indespensable institution of higher learning, as well as challenges which demand attention.

Focus

President Sewell's Listening Tour will focus on building collaboration and consensus around the following progressive goals:

  • increasing enrollment
  • enhancing student success
  • supporting faculty and staff
  • fostering a vibrant campus life
  • raising funds
  • strengthening our reputation

Key Questions

As President Sewell engages a broad range of stakeholders, he asks all Hornets to offer their perspectives on the following questions:

  1. What are our most unique attributes and qualities?
  2. What opportunities should we pursue in the short and long terms?
  3. What makes us essential and relevant in the community, state, country, and world?
  4. What challenges could hinder our strong forward progress?
  5. What opinions do you have but haven't yet had an opportunity to express?

Listening Tour Schedule
June 2024: Meetings with Executive Cabinet
July 2024: Meetings with Board of Trustees, the Student Government Association, Department Heads, Directors of Auxillary Services, and Staff
July 2024: Town Hall with Alumni
August 2024: Additional Meetings with Faculty, Students, and Elected Officials
September 2024: Meetings with Key Civic Organizations
