Dozens lined up outside of the Student Center Friday for the Grand Opening of the new retail dining hall, The Hornet's Nest.
The new-and-improved retail dining hall opened at the top of the academic year with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by free tastings, giveaways, and more.
The former pizza operation now serves an array of selections for dine-in or take out. During the Grand Opening, students, faculty, and staff were able to sample many of the menu items, including burgers, chicken fingers, pizza, and sweet potato fries. One of the most bragged about items on the menu was the Philly cheesesteak.
"I'm from up north, so I recognized the flavor right away. The Philly cheesesteak was my favorite," said Ms. Hickman, the Human Resource receptionist.
Students also enjoyed the different flavored wings.
"The honey mustard wings were my favorite," said Joseph Butler, a junior mass communications major.
Starting his third year at the college, Butler said the best thing about the Hornet's Nest was the option to pay with cash or a debit card.
"I think it's really convenient. Most student's don't carry cash, so being able to use a debit card makes things much easier."
The Hornet's Nest is located inside of the Student Center and will open weekdays from noon to 10 p.m. and weekends from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.
