Quanda Durant Sims

Quanda Durant Sims is a native of Sumter, South Carolina. Quanda received a B.A. in Social Work (1991) and an M.Ed in Divergent Learning (2003), both from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. Quanda has worked at Morris College for 17 years, starting in 2006 as the counselor for Student Support Services. She has served as the Director of the Morris College Counseling Center since 2015. She brings to this position over 30 years’ experience working in the field of counseling and behavioral mental health. Her past positions include Community Mental Health Case Manager, Human Services Coordinator in the Dept. of Corrections, and Residential Coordinator for Disabilities and Special Needs. As part of the Morris College family, she is the Advisor for the Freshman Class, Morris College Cheerleaders, Morris College Usher Club, Student Leaders and Co-Advisor for Miss and Mister Morris College. She also serves as a member of the College’s Appeals Committee, and on the Advisory Council for Student Affairs. Quanda is a member of Joshua Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina and has 3 (three) wonderful children. Her motto in life is “Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.
