Ms. Tiffany Smith, new Morris Director - Faculty Development!

The Office of the Academic Dean is pleased to announce the new Director, Faculty Development, Ms. Tiffany Smith. Ms. Smith will lead leadership efforts to support Morris faculty with teaching and learning scholarship.

Ms. Smith began her tenure in Faculty Development in 2009 at Webster University. She has supported faculty at Morehouse School of Medicine (GA), Morehouse College (GA), Kellogg Northwestern School of Business (IL), Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (IL), Abilene Christian University (TX), Regis College (MA), Florida International University (FL) and others. Also, she has a wealth of experience supporting learning and development in the corporate sector at large firms, like KPMG, PWC, EY, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ms. Smith designed training for State of Georgia to allocate the COVID19 vaccine, and most recently, she designed AI training for Premera, a licensee of Blue Cross. Ms. Smith has 18 years' teaching experience in higher education. This year she will complete a doctorate in Rhetoric & Composition at Georgia State University. She is ABD and has created a new rhetorical theory: the Rhetorical Theory of Duality. Ms. Smith is implementing her duality theory in Morris' Research & Composition course this Spring 2025 semester. Ms. Smith is born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. Her academic studies were completed at the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in Speech, Language & Hearing Pathology with an emphasis in language development and processing. At Webster University, she completed two master's degrees: a Master of Arts - Teaching and a Master of Educational Technology.

Ms. Smith's most important responsibility is to advocate for faculty to ensure resources and support are consistent and available. Ms. Smith has an open-door policy.
