Mr. Jerry Hannah, 1981 graduate of Morris College, Morris College Lake City Alumni Chapter president, and an astute businessman and entrepreneur in Orangeburg and Florence county donated $10,000 to a scholarship in honor of his mother, Mrs. Mamie James Hannah, and his aunt, Mrs. Candance James Richardson. The scholarship was established in January 2000 by Mr. Hannah. Given through the Morris College National Alumni Association, Hannah’s gift shows his dedication to continuing to provide opportunities for deserving students in need of financial assistance.

“This show of support from Mr. Hannah, and others like him who recognize and value the importance of education, are essential to the college’s mission of providing educational opportunities to students,” said President Leroy Staggers. “Morris College is grateful to be the recipient of his generosity and philanthropy,” continued President Staggers.

Mr. Hannah is a native of Lake City, SC, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morris College in 1981 and a Master of Arts degree from South Carolina State University.
