Ms. Lanier has been with DFCS for 28 years. She is currently serving as the Deputy Section Director for the Permanency and Placement section. She is responsible for managing the Adoption, Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Unit, and the Social Services Administration Unit.
Glenene began her career working with the Council on Aging and the Blair Foundation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for three years. From 2017, she served as County Director of Fulton County. In 2012, she began an intensive Leadership Development program with the Annie E. Casey Foundation called Agents of Change Leadership Program. She successfully graduated from this program in January 2013.
Ms. Lanier is a member of the Stone Mountain – Lithonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology was received from Morris College, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. She received her MSW from the University of Georgia and Licensure in 2005. Glenene has been married to Ericson Lanier for 29 years and they are the proud parents of Deanna Lanier and the late Erica Lanier.
