With a proven track record of success and leadership, Coach Summers brings a championship pedigree and a deep commitment to player development—both on the court and in the classroom. Over the course of his career, Coach Summers has compiled an impressive 158-116 overall head coaching record, building winning programs and earning national recognition at every stop.

During a previous stop at Edward Waters University, Coach Summers compiled a 55-49 overall record, led them to their first ever Gulf Coast Athletic Championship Game, coached five AllConference Players and four All-Academic players.

At Talladega College, Coach Summers led the team to a strong 21-10 record, following a highly successful tenure at Concordia College Alabama, where he posted an 85-51 record. His leadership at Talladega College earned him the 2018 GCAC Coach of the Year award and the league’s 2018 Player of the Year Devonte Dixon.

Under his direction, Concordia College Alabama made four consecutive USCAA National Tournament appearances (2014–2017), which saw his teams fall as the runner-up 2015-16 & 2016-17 USCAA National Men’s Basketball Championship. He also guided the team to a historic 17-game winning streak, the longest in program history.

In 2014, Coach Summers led Concordia to a milestone victory—its first-ever win over an NCAA Division I opponent, defeating Alcorn State University on December 30, 2014.

Earlier in his career, he played a key role in Lane College’s success, helping the program secure the 2004–2005 SIAC Basketball Tournament Championship and an NCAA Regional Tournament appearance and also helped Miles College secure the 2022-23 SIAC Men’s Basketball Championship and a NCAA Regional Tournament appearance. Off the court, Coach Summers emphasized academic excellence, contributing to a 98% graduation rate and earning national recognition from USA Today for the highest student-athlete graduation rate among Division II institutions during the 2003–2004 academic year.

Coach Summers is widely respected for his ability to build competitive, high-character teams that excel in both athletics and academics. His coaching philosophy centers on discipline, accountability, and holistic student-athlete development, making him a transformative leader in collegiate basketball.

Coach Summers is engaged to Akia Stanton, and together they are proud parents of Xavier, Tristan, Laila, and AJ
