Morris College President Dr. Said Sewell announces the appointment of De'Onqua Isaac as vice president for enrollment management. In this role, Isaac will oversee the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, Office of Financial Aid and the Registrar's Office, leading efforts to enhance student recruitment, financial aid processes and overall retention.
"To enhance the growth of our student population, it is essential to implement a strategic and coordinated approach to our recruitment, enrollment and retention initiatives within the Division of Enrollment Management," Sewell said. "De'Onqua possesses extensive expertise in student recruitment, specifically within Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), along with a wide range of experiences in student engagement. These qualifications make him an excellent choice for the inaugural vice president position in enrollment management. We are pleased to welcome him to Morris."
A native of Mississippi, Isaac was raised in Cleveland, Mississippi, and later relocated to Columbia, Mississippi. He most recently served as the executive director of enrollment management at Wiley University in Marshall, Texas, where he successfully led a 23% increase in enrollment from the 2023-24 to the 2024-25 school year. His efforts helped Wiley University achieve its largest cohort of first-time freshmen in recent years.
With nearly a decade of experience in enrollment management, Isaac has held various roles in higher education. He began his career as a recruiter at Alcorn State University and later served as the coordinator for First- and Second-Year Experience at Southern University in Baton Rouge, as well as the assistant director for admissions and recruitment at Central State University. At Alcorn, he also managed a $1.2 million scholarship budget as the coordinator of student success and scholarship coordinator for the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
Isaac holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Alcorn State University and is pursuing a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Wiley University. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and part of the Xi Cohort for the Higher Education Leadership Foundation.
