College Kicks off Fall Harvest Rally

October 05, 2021

On Thursday, September 23, 2021, the campus community gathered in the Neal-Jones Auditorium to kick off the college’s annual campus-wide Fall Harvest Rally. Pledges and contributions were accepted from faculty, staff, and student classes, clubs, and organizations. During the assembly, the college received $10,475.20 in pledges and $2,150 in cash.

The official Fall Harvest Rally and worship service that usually takes place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving has been canceled by the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina. The homecoming parade has also been canceled. In the absence of a physical face-to-face rally, the Morris College family is asking that all physical contributions be mailed to the college by Friday, November 19, 2021, to 100 West College Street, Sumter S.C. 29150.

Dr. Robert Eaves, director of Business Affairs and Dr. Jacob E. Butler, Jr., interim academic dean/chairperson challenged the faculty, staff, and students by encouraging them to “give to UNCF and Morris College because [UNCF] have given so much to us.” “I challenge you to show your appreciation by helping us towards this cause,” said Dr. Butler. The Student Government Association President, Ms. Nigeria Myers, challenged the student body.

Currently, the college has received $13,044.20 in pledges and $4,743.33. The Pre-Fall Harvest Worship and Rally will be held on November 9, 2021.
