Alumnus and Board Member Presents $200,000 Gift to Morris College from Family

Dr. James Vinson (Ted) Wilson, Sr., alumnus and board member presented $200,000 from his family during the last in-person board meeting of the year. Dr. Wilson, Sr. gave the gift to continue to show his appreciation for Morris College. Dr. Wilson, Sr. also gave in hopes it would inspire others to give back to his alma mater. Dr. Wilson, Sr. is the founder and CEO of Universal Benefits Marketing Firm, Inc. (UBI) located in Sumter, S.C., a former educator, and a well-known philanthropist and family man. The Wilson family has also been a strong supporter of education and community involvement.  

"We are delighted to have received another generous donation from Dr. Wilson, Sr.; these funds will continue to impact our students in tremendous ways," said President Dr. Leroy Staggers. "We have been successful in implementing a successful curriculum that has prepared our students for many different avenues and we want to be able to continue to do that for years to come."
