On Monday, a trio of Andrew High School athletes signed letters of intent to further their careers at Morris College. Tevin Tisdale, RayQuan Kinloch, and Tyler Middleton each will run cross country and play soccer for the Hornets.
“We are very proud of their efforts athletically and what they have done on the courts and fields over their careers at Andrews High,” said Assistant Principal Kevin Branham. “It takes a lot of hard work to get to this moment.”
Milton Bell, the cross country and track coach at Morris College said the young men have a great opportunity.
“Education is our main goal at Morris College, sports is on the back burner. You come in, work hard anything is possible. You just need to have faith and believe. “
All three young men are determined, and each one of them are excited to be teammates.
“It’s a dream come true. I have wanted this since I was little,” said Middleton. “I always wanted to play sports in college. “
“It feels kind of weird to me. I never pictured myself in college playing a sport,” said Tisdale. “I always pictured myself in the military. I’m with my friends and have family behind me, so I’m ready to do it. “
“First, it’s an honor and second it’s a blessing because since the age of three I’ve wanted to play sports,” said Kinloch. “I’ve kept that with me and I’m gonna keep going with it.”
Their basketball coach, Rodney Giles, believes that the sky is the limit for the group.
“It’s been a long battle for them. They endured through a lot of things. This is a great opportunity for them and I hope they take advantage of it. They are great athletes, well-rounded and can play multiple sports. I believe they will be a great asset to Morris College. “
RayQuan Kinloch, Tevin Tisdale and Tyler Middleton are surrounded by Andrews coaches and administration on April 15 during their signing ceremony.
