College Receives Grant for Forensics Center

Morris College has received a two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the College Cost Reduction Access Act (CCRAA) of 2007. The award for the first year is $500,000.
These funds will be used to assist with the construction of a Forensics Center which will greatly strengthen the college’s Criminal Justice Program.
The Forensics Center will house a multi-purpose classroom, a fingerprint analysis laboratory, a DNA analysis laboratory, a ballistics laboratory, and a drug analysis laboratory. Training in the use of the scientific and technological equipment in these laboratories will help Criminal Justice students to gain a competitive advantage in the job market place through enhancing their knowledge of and ability to use up-to-date forensic technology and methods.

The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2010.
