Morris College to hold Annual Fall Harvest Rally/Worship Service 

The Morris College Annual Fall Harvest Rally and Worship Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center. Dr. T. DeWitt Smith, Jr., planter and pastor of Trinity Baptist Church of Metro Atlanta, will be the speaker.

 Dr. Smith was born in Chicago, Ill. and received his childhood education from the city’s public school system. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Judson College in Elgin, Ill. and his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio. 

 Installed as the 18th President of the Progressive National Baptist Convention in 2006, Dr. Smith has many accomplishments. To name a few, he is known nationally and internationally as an articulate preacher and lecturer, he was instrumental in establishing the first PNBC, Inc. Congress of Christian Education in Europe and served as first and second vice-president of the parent body. He currently serves as board member for the Morehouse School of Religion of the Interdenominational Theological Center and he has been inducted into the Morehouse College of Distinguished Preachers.

 Dr. Smith has distinguished himself as a published author. His latest book, “Drop the Rage, Turn the Page” is pending release. 

The Annual Morris College Fall Harvest Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Harvin at Bartlett Streets. The parade will proceed to Calhoun Street, turn left on Calhoun to Main Street, and then travel north to College Street.

The Annual Fall Harvest Rally is the colleges’ major fund raising event.
