SUMTER, SC - The Morris College Career Services Center will host its Career Fest beginning Thursday, March 12. A two-day event, Career Fest is aimed to expose students to professionals in industry, business, education and government. “The students will gain valuable information from this program that will aid them in their preparation for professional and graduate school, and employment,” according to Gloria Seabrook-Wright, director of the Morris College Career Services Center.
The kick off is an assembly which is free and open to the public and will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Neal-Jones Auditorium. The keynote speaker will be Ernest A. Finney, III, Solicitor for the Third Judicial Circuit. This district includes Clarendon, Lee, Sumter and Williamsburg Counties.
Finney, a successful trial attorney and practitioner of the law, has represented both individuals and corporations in the state and federal courts throughout South Carolina. His career has always included public service. He served as a member of the Public Defender Corporation and was elected President of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2004 Finney was selected to serve as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Columbia. In 2010 he was elected to serve as Solicitor and in 2014 he ran unopposed for a second term.
Other activities for the Career Fest include classroom visitations, workshops, and leadership forums. In addition to hearing from Solicitor Finney, several Morris College Alumni will return to campus to participate in this year’s programs.
