SUMTER, S.C. — Morris College is proud to announce that the college’s Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Team has captured a regional win for the second year in a row. Team members Rita Briggs, captain; Ellis Clayton, James McEachern and Jacques McCoy competed against 10 schools from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Illinois at North Carolina State University on Saturday, February 16, 2013 in Greensboro, NC. Robert Zalimas, chairperson of the Division of General Studies, serves as the team’s advisor and Ms. Johnell Rodgers, the college’s director of health services, is the team’s coach.
The team is one of 16 moving to the nationals in Los Angeles, Calif. from April 6-10 for the opportunity to win $50,000. Teams are selected to attend based on several factors including level of student participation, quality of promotional efforts and the institution's historical record when attending the national championship tournament.
The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge, created by College Bowl and sponsored by Honda, is an academic competition that engages students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. For additional information, please visit the HCAC website at http://www.hcasc.com/
