Annual Open-House Event Planned for March 21

Morris College Community Day is a great time for the communities of the City of Sumter, Sumter County, and counties throughout the state; along with alumni, and persons interested in becoming Morris College students to visit the campus.
An annual open-house event, now in its second year, established by President Luns C. Richardson is an endeavor to allow the community at large to explore the campus, learn more about the college’s academic and career-focused offerings, and have a personal exchange with administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and students.
This year, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in “Kid and Elder Safe.”  This program is presented by the Morris College Forensics Center to provide families with vital information should a circumstance arise where fingerprints and a current photograph are needed for local authorities.  While everyone is welcomed, it is strongly encouraged that anyone with school-aged children in grades K-5 and high school and persons 50 years of age and older should participate.
A variety of other interactive activities include demonstrations in the Student Health and Wellness Center and science laboratories.  The Wellness Center is one of several newly constructed facilities and is equipped with the best amenities and the latest in cardio and strength training equipment.  All administrative offices and residence halls will be open during campus tours.  The offices of Financial Aid and Admissions and Records will be available to assist with the application process.
The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. on The Plaza, which is located in front of the Learning Resources Center and the Neal-Jones Auditorium, with opening remarks from President Richardson.  A musical ensemble will render music throughout the day and a student art exhibit will be on display in the lobby of the Auditorium.  The day will conclude at 2:00 p.m.
This event as well as all activities are free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served.
