2009 Business Week Observance

   The Morris College Division of Business Administration, along with Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), will observe its annual Business/PBL Week November 9-13, 2009. This year’s theme will be, "Recognizing Excellence in Business Education." The overall purpose of the observance is to expose students to the many opportunities available in the field of business. 
   Throughout the weeklong observance, eleven professional development workshops/seminars and the Business/PBL Assembly will take place. The assembly program will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 10 a.m. and the speaker will be Mrs. Vivian Fleming-McGhaney, Chairwoman of the Sumter County Council.
   Mrs. McGhaney, a Sumter County native, was elected to Sumter County Council on July 16, 2002, to represent Council District Five.
   A graduate of Mayewood High School, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from South Carolina State University in 1979 and a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College in 1999. She completed graduate courses from several other universities thus obtaining advanced teacher certification for 30 hours above her Masters degree.
   She is employed with Sumter School District Two at R. E. Davis Elementary School, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. As a councilwoman, she actively serves on several committees and currently serves as a member of the Internal Affairs Committee, Educational Liaison Committee, Waste Disposal Committee, and Chairperson of the Public Works Committee.
   She is married to Reverend Daryl F. McGhaney, Assistant Director at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center and Pastor of Bethany Fellowship Chapel Interdenominational Church, and they are the parents of two children.
   Other presenters for the week will include Ms. Kimdra Belser, Manager, SC Community Bank; Mr. Cornell Grady, Owner, ACT NOW Small Business Camp; Mrs. Tammy Kelly of State Farm Insurance, Ms. Sharon Tindal, Owner of Tindal Construction; and Dr. Rita Livingston.
